A meme

Got to look up the exact Danish meaning of that some day. But they seem to be all the rage, so why not? Got this one from over at Aphra Behn...

1. Explain what ended your last relationship

My last relationship could be said to be the current one - still on and has been for umpteen years. So nothing did, and I'd like to keep it that way!

2. When was the last time you shaved?

This morning. As every morning on weekdays. Being a man and having a family that complaints of stubble itching explains it...

3. What were you doing at 8am today?

Waiting for the dog to "do his thing" in the garden as he stubbornly refused to do so up in the woods.

4. What were you doing 15 minutes ago?

Catching up on morning E-mails and news RSSs (?) at work.

5. Are you any good at maths?

Yep. Though I always was to careless to get the top grades - always a wee silly mistake in there somewhere. Something - both things, actually - my daugther seems to have inherited.

6. Your prom night?

Non-existent as such in Denmark. Though we had an annual galla party at the high school - which obviusly is a bit special in your 3rd and last year. Les Lanciers - mandatory at all the parties at the high schol - danced with some more flourish than usual. Alcohol of a little higher quality than usual.

And, ermm, quite a bit of confusion with high school girlfriends and girl friends - some of the former thought that some of the latter were of the former variety. And, out of the blue, one of the latter did a move towards the former category - but nothing really came out of it.
Which actually ties the bow on #1, sort of.

7. Do you have any famous ancestors?

No. I did go to the same school as a quite famous writer, now posthumously honured with a theatre play. Does that count?

8. Did you have to take out a loan for university?

Luckily, I didn't have to - my parents lived only 5-6 km from the Technical University. And I was too comfortable (some would say lazy) not to take advantage of that.

9. Do you know the words to the song on your Myspace profile?

If I had a MySpace profile and if it had a song (do they always?), I'd know the words. Believe me - I know the words to lots of 70s-80s songs! (today's shopping list, on the other hand, is rather uncharted territory)

10. Last thing received in the mail?

A bill or a pension fund summary. Isn't life exiting?

11. What beverages have you had today?

Tea. Coffee.

12. Do you leave messages on people’s answering machines.

Whan I have to. Never quite got around to liking them...

13. Whom did you lose your CONCERT virginity to?

I *think* it was Styx. It could have been a three-band concert night where 10CC was the big(gest) name, though.

14. Do you draw your name in the sand when you go to the beach?

"On a day like today..." No, actually I don't think I've ever done names in the sand. Lots of footprints, washed away by the ever-rolling waves.

15. What is the most painful dental procedure you have ever had?

A simple filling where the local anaesthetics wasn't quite enough. Doesn't hold a light to Marathon Man, though.

16. What is out your back door?

The back garden.

17. Any plans for Friday night?

You know, I don't think so. But it'll start with a G&T.

18. Do you like what the ocean does to your hair?

Nothing much, so I don't mind. Quite often, I don't stick my hair in it - ever since bathing in the Bay of Guinea, the local sea has seemed rather cold.

19. Have you ever received one of those big tins with three different kinds of popcorn?

What are they?

20. Have you ever been to a planetarium?

We have one in Copenhagen - but actually I don't think I have.... Oops.

21. Do you re-use towels after you shower?

Of course. What a waste of water and energy not to and what an abundance of detergents to throw at nature if you don't.

22. Some things you are excited about

The outdoors, scouting, laughing, good presentations (a rare thing, indeed), languages words, writing. And much more. Oh, and marvelling about how big kids become so quickly and how we can enjoy it all together.

23. Your favourite Jello flavour

None.

24. Describe your key chain

Ring with car-remote-key, house key, key to my mother's, two keys I right now don't know what are for (??), a small bottle opener that used to be blue and a shopping-trolley "coin". No fancy decorations.

25. Where do you keep your change?

Mostly in my wallet.

26. What winter coat do you own?

A few... Thick brown leather jacket with an optional Thinsulate (™, probably) lining, a Timberland 3/4 long coat that's good over a suit for when that's necessary, three fleece jackets - one of them windproof (did any one say 'outdoors'), two cottoncoats, and a largely rain-proof shell jacket. What I still miss is that Goretex XCR one...

27. What was the weather like on your graduation day?

From the Technical University, the most is festivities was the red jacket of the postman who brought the exam papers. So I don't really know. From high school I seem to remember through a alcoholic haze (Danes will know the tradition of going round to all the households of the class by preferably a horse drawn carriage - these days as often some truck - and having a drink at each place) that it was quite fair.

28. Do you sleep with your bedroom door open or closed?

Open. Cats and such - and the upstairs bathroom through our bedroom.

Over to you, now...

Well, unless meme means something quite different in Danish I don't see how this little questionnaire could be called a meme (a word coined by Richard Dawkins meaning 'a unit of cultural inheritance' - rhymes with gene). It's also one of my pet peeves due to recent overuse of it, usually incorrectly, all over the blogosphere.

But otherwise and that, the questionnaire looks like fun. What's the deal - are we supposed to copy it onto our own blogs and answer the questions there?
